Power Computing 1997 Fight Tyranny Macworld poster

This is a super rare Power Computing poster from the 1997 San Francisco Macworld. The text is "The Fight Against Tyranny Begins! Join the Mac Resistance!" This Apple clone poster was designed by punk rock poster artist Frank Kozik who did a series of them for PowerComputing in the mid '90's until Steve Jobs returned to Apple and ended the clone program later that year.

At the January 1997 Macworld Expo, Power Computing fired up the Mac faithful with its “Fight Back for the Mac!” campaign, complete with company reps dressed in camouflage uniforms circling the Expo hall in Hummers emblazoned with Power Computing logos.

This poster was collected at the January Moscone Center Macworld Expo and the original owner had this to say: "The Power Computing booth was out of this poster by the time I got there, but a peripheral manufacturing company (whose name escapes me) was displaying this - hence the staple holes. Anyway they said I could have it if I came back at the end of the day. So I did! As mentioned, this does have some holes where it was stapled to a display board." It measures approx. 23" by 32" and the staple holes in top and bottom white space should cover when framed.

This highly collectible and nearly impossible to find vintage poster is priced at $350 CDN and that includes insured postage in a heavy cardboard tube. There are other vintage and rare posters and shirts from the Power Computing era available - click the labels below. To inquire contact Dave via kootenaymac.tel

Power Computing mouse and pad collection

on the left is a black Power Computing mouse pad with the official Macintosh clone logo in red and "Power Computing" in white with phone number underneath. Additional bonus - the original Power Computing warranty card. This is a very rare mouse pad as none have been made since the late 90's. It measures about 7" by 9" and is almost 1/4" thick. It has not been moused on.

The vintage red 9" Power Computing mouse pad is well used but is still a fine collector's item.

Included are the original decals and a PowerTower Pro Install CD. The decals are a set of 3 in two sizes. The mouse is an original Power Computing ADB one button mouse with logo. The Power Computing Install CD contains system installers, utilities and bundled software for PowerTower Pro, p/n 1620-0003-00 release 3.0 MacOS 7.6 and it is in excellent condition with no scratches.

Included is the one-button ADB mouse that came with the Power Computing Mac clones. It was manufactured by Macally. For a few years in the mid-90s Apple allowed Power Computing to make Apple Macintosh compatible computers. Steve Jobs ended that program upon his return to Apple.

The price is $145 CDN and that includes postage. Lower center shows 5 Power Computing cloisonne lapel pins - new in original wrappers. They are available for $45 each or all 5 for $185 CDN. Vintage Power Computing FIGHT THE POWER 1997 MacWorld T-shirt

Steve Says Fight The Power With Power T-Shirt from the 1997 Mac World Expo in SF, from the short era when Apple licensed out Macs to Power Computing. The label has a PowerComputing tag. It is a size XL made in the USA of 90% cotton and 10% polyester. It is preshrunk and cut larger than sizes you get now. It is a good quality shirt, it has never been worn or washed and has been well stored for almost 20 years. It is still in mint condition with no cracking in the screened graphics.

The back has the stenciled text: THE COUNTER-ASSAULT BEGINS! and below that is PowerComputing MacWorld Expo San Francisco 1997. The back text is the reason I bought this shirt is that it matched the nearly impossible to find Kozik Counter Assault Wintel PowerPC poster. It is reasonably priced for the PowerComputing collector at $70 CDN with postage at cost.

Rare Power Computing Kozik Macworld "The Counter Assault Begins" poster collection

This is a rare and hard to find Frank Kozik "The Counter Assault Begins" poster. It measures approximately 21" x 34". The main text is: Power Computing - The Counter-Assault Begins. Macworld San Francisco 1997. Join Power Computing in Fighting Back for the Mac!

The original owner had this to say about it: "This poster is in great condition and has been in a protective storage since I acquired it during the 1997 Macworld Expo in San Francisco and was unrolled only to take this picture." This Apple clone poster was designed by punk rock poster artist Frank Kozik and was distributed at Macworld. "Kozik is best known to Macintosh users for these in-your-face illustrations for now-defunct Mac-clone maker Power Computing."

"Power Computing was the most successful of the Mac clone manufacturers in the mid to late 90's prior to Steve Job's return to Apple and putting an end to all the clone makers. Power Computing's booth at Macworld '97 in San Francisco was a big party. They rented Hummers, had mini flags with the company logo hanging from the front of the hood field marshal-style, and wore urban camouflage fatigues and berets."

"Their slogan was 'We're fighting back for the Mac!'  Their stated enemy was Microsoft, which pissed off the Microsoft people, as they would stand with a microphone on their stage and hurl barbs and insults in the direction of the Microsoft pavilion."
Apple history note: Macintosh clone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Soon after Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, he halted negotiations of upcoming licensing deals with OS licensees that Apple executives complained were still financially unfavorable.... Apple bought Power Computing's Mac clone business for $100 million, ending the Clone era.

This highly collectible vintage poster is priced at $375 CDN (includes postage). The matching 1994 original poster titled People's Victory that this one was "cloned" from by Frank Kozik for Power Computing is also available priced at $200. It is an artist's proof (A/P) and is pencil signed by Kozik. Click photos for larger images. There are other rare Kozik PowerComputing posters and shirts for sale - click the labels below. They were removed from the booth and the show-floor locations where they were being handed out. When Steve Jobs returned to Apple, the Mac clone program was ended.
