Macintosh - iPod 20th Anniversary Poster 1984-2004

This MacWorld 1984-2004 poster commemorates the original commercial from 1984 and pays homage to George Orwell's futuristic novel "1984". It measures 24" x 36" and reads, "1984 - 2004". The poster has the image of Anya Major, the runner from the famous Super Bowl 1984 television commercial, only this time she is wearing an iPod.

This is the poster from Apple's 1984 Superbowl Commercial, modified for 2004 with the lady hammer thrower in the Picasso-style top now wearing an iPod as well. That commercial only aired once in 1984 and this updated poster was available only at the Apple booth during MacWorld San Francisco 2004. Apple has not released any posters since 2004.

This highly collectible Apple iPod poster is available for $145 CDN and that includes postage (but not to the US) - 2 available. It has been discontinued and is only available from private owners - be one. To inquire contact Dave via kootenaymac.tel

This is a collection of vintage Apple postcards and a Jobs/Mac stamp plus one card made on a Mac clone. Also included as a bonus are two related cards.

The far left 'It's Springtime' card shows a G4 iMac from Mac House in Berlin. At the bottom far left is a new unused bitten rainbow Apple card from the Think Different era. It has a 1-800 number for an Apple authorized reseller and shows the url www.apple.co.za.

In the center left row is a Come See the Apple Computer postcard from California that was sent in the 80's to a client from the Santa Rosa California Computer Center. vintage 17" Apple LCD acrylic ADC monitor

In May 2001, Apple released a 17" Studio Display (Model No: M7649) with a native resolution of 1280x1024. The Apple Display Connector (ADC) is a proprietary modification of the DVI connector that combines analog and digital video signals, USB, and power all in one cable. The unit is in very good condition and features a single cord ADC plug that connects to the PowerMac ADC port. A swipe of the finger on the lower right corner powers up the tower and monitor. Photo shows monitor in use on a G4 Quicksilver tower in this photo from November 24, 2021.

Apple introduced it with the Dual Processor Mystic Power Mac G4 and new ADC monitors in July 2000, removing the industry standard DVI port previously found on the Sawtooth Power Mac G4. ADC remained a standard feature of Power Macs through the 2004 Power Mac G5; ADC was not present on the 2005 Power Mac G5, and Apple resumed use of the DVI connector alongside ADC with the Mirrored Drive Doors Power Mac G4 in August 2002.

Apple's 1984 Super Bowl Macintosh televison commerical

"1984" is the title of the television commercial that launched the Apple Macintosh personal computer in the United States, in January 1984.
The commercial aired on January 22, 1984 during a break in the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII. The ad showed an unnamed heroine (played by Anya Major) wearing orange shorts, red running shoes, and a white tank top with a Picasso-style picture of Apple's Macintosh computer, running through an Orwellian world to throw a sledgehammer at a TV image of Big Brother — an implied representation of IBM — played by David Graham. The concluding screen showed the message and voice over "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like '1984'." At the end, the Apple "rainbow bitten apple" logo is shown on a black background.

Here's to Anya Major, who almost didn't happen!

When the Apple 1984 commercial was shown to Apple's board, in order to get approval of the high cost of showing the commercial at the Superbowl, the response was unexpected. Every external board member reacted negatively, with the influential Mike Markkula actually stating that Apple should start looking for another ad agency. One of the board members claimed it was the worst commercial he had ever seen.
